Cyprus Historical Places
There are many countries that have a history that is extremely rich. However, I believe that the one that tops every one of them is the country of Cyprus. This can be attributed to the entire raid they suffered throughout their history. Because Cyprus is so close to some of the greatest civilizations in the world, it is no wonder that they decided it would be the best possible thing for them if they would keep proof of past confrontations. This is a group of people that embrace their history and are extremely proud of their heritage.
If you like history then you will be amazed by the places that is still found even today. There have been nasty battles there and the habitants of Cyprus have shown how brave they have been throughout history. In reality, you will take a trip through time when visiting those places because that’s exactly what it is. If your imagination is vivid you can actually see what Cyprus was like in its glory days. I mean by that is that parts of buildings are still standing even today showing that their past is very important to them as its part of them and who they were/are today.
A place to go see if you are in castles, towers, the old designs of buildings then you absolutely have to go to Nicosia. Anyone can find something to their liking. Since it’s a huge part of tourism then the residents and workers to their best to keep these relics in the best possible shape so everyone can enjoy them not only the local population. During the medieval times, Cyprus had soldiers defending their country and they erected on of the most phenomenal structure in the world and it is known as the Famagusta Gate. It just goes to show you how they take care of their stuff.
To show you even more proof that their history is close to them, they managed to keep part of the wall that defended their city when they went to war. It’s no surprise that everything is made so that this stays there for everyone’s delight. Even though some of their historical landmarks are getting old, they still have their elegance. Some have mentioned that the Sea Gate and the Land Gate are looking very good after all these years. If architecture is something that you crave, you absolutely have to go to Kantara Castle. As you know the closer you get to a castle, the better looking the designs are. The villagers were proud then and the villagers and proud today. A visit at a museum is a must for every visitor to find out about the local history. I suggest visiting the Folk Art Museum, the Art Galleries and the famous Byzantine Museum.
If you want to take a trip 300 years in to time then go see the St. Mamas Monastery in the town of Guzelyurt. Built in the 1700’s this building is still standing today. They were really inspired by the way buildings were built in the 1500’s though. So again if you have a vivid imagination, you can see it in its glory days.
To name a few places doesn’t do Cyprus justice at all. Even if you only went to just one of the locations I mentioned, I swear you wish you will want to go back in a second to find out more because almost every city in Cyprus has a specialty.
