A different visa for North and South Cyprus

A thing that comes every season in most countries is tourism. A kid can be 4 and travel with his parents or a person that just retired might decide that he will enjoy life now and start to travel. The most incredible thing about tourism is that you get to see other people, other cultures, and museums and see your world around you in a totally different way. This might become a shock for some but the life is different in every country. We are not that influential that we make other countries change their way of living which can become a good thing. By finding out about other cultures, it gives us a better understanding of our own culture. We should always try to know as much as possible about other countries.

A thing however that is inevitable in every country is safety measures. With all the terrorism going on, it’s almost normal. We’re talking about informing visitors about their laws and what papers they need to have to get in the country for their personal safety. When one think of entry in a foreign country, one must think of visas (not the credit card). A country that is very specific about entering their country is Cyprus. Political changes are not uncommon so this is why it’s so important for them to issue strict guidelines especially to a stranger. But, they are seeing the light and are slowly beginning to be more open concerning certain things. This is a bonus for their tourism.

The particularity of this country is that they are divided in two (North and South) which may be confusing for someone wishing to visit there. To make things easier, just keep on reading and I’ll explain the requirements. The persons coming from Canada, United States, European Union, Australia, Mexico, Norway, Switzerland, New Zealand, Japan and Pakistan are ok if they want to visit the North part. Now the tricky part: if you are Turk then South Cyprus is off limits to you. The only thing that can save you now would be marriage to a local that was born Turkey. As for water and air control, anyone can enter but they need their passport and visa checked out. One of the only things that are the same for both sides are the work permits issued. The rule is clear: no valid permit, no work. It’s as simple as that. Again if you’re going from South to North then a simple stamp in your passport from the checkpoint is all that is required for a smooth ride. However, if you do it the other way around, it’s all paperwork (the visa and all the whole nine yards).

Actually it’s not that complicated to get the visa. Everything needed is clearly mentioned when you apply to get one. If you really want to make sure that your travels to Cyprus (North or/and South) goes smoothly, just go on the website or the embassy in your country. This way, you won’t have any bad surprises.
